Subject and verb
agreement
In preparing the
English sentence, we know what is referred to as the "Subject-Verb
Agreement" to create alignment between the subject and the verb used. Because in the English language the term
single object (singular) and plural object (plural) and verb (verb) that follow
should also adjust subjectnya. It is therefore necessary subject verb agreement
Subject verb agreement refers to the fact that the
subject and verb in a sentence must agree in number. In other words, they both
must be singular or they both must be plural. You can’t have a singular subject
with a plural verb or vice versa. The tricky part is in knowing the singular
and plural forms of subjects and verbs.
In a sentence, the verb form must match the
subject. If the subject and verb do not match, then the sentence is to be one.
Consider the following example:
In the first example , 'are' incompatible with
Tomy subject as 'are' can only be used against a second person (you) or the
third person plural.
In the second example, 'live' can not be used
because the third person singular in the simple present tense should be affixes
(-s) into lives.
1.
Singular subject – singular verb
The
definition of the subject is singular subject pronoun he, she , and it

While
that is a singular verbs are verb1 + es / s , is / was , and verb
phrases such as : is / was + verb-ing/verb3 , has + verb3 , has been verb -
ing and has been verb3 .
2.
Plural subject – plural verb
The definition of the subject is plural subject pronouns such as I , we , you , they , and all plural
nouns . While that is a plural verbs are verbs and verb phrases in addition to
the above singular verbs .
